For such a time as this…

Marlene and me, Jess, saying goodbye

“I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service.” 1 Timothy 1:12

On May 25th of 2010 I stepped foot onto a little island that I thought would simply be a place for me to help and be trained for my future life as a missionary in Africa. I had no idea that God had intentions of making this place my future home….and now, I would have it no other way. There is no question in my mind or my heart that Haiti was and is the place that the Spirit of God is calling me to. He has put a deep ache in my heart for Marlene, Roselande, Priman, Dukens, Yolande, Dieuline, Yannick, Deny, Darlens, Yves, Gerline (and the list goes on). I ache that they would know Jesus and see His healing come to their hearts, souls, bodies, land, community.

The Lord has truly ordered my steps this year. He opened each and every door, the huge ones and the seemingly insignificant ones, to bring Haiti into my life. Last January he deeply broke my heart for the Haitian people and then made a way for me to serve, love, learn, and be loved at Real Hope for Haiti (for more background on myself and how I ended up at RHFH please read this post).

What my role will be as a staff missionary at RHFH:
I will spend a chunk of my first 6 months to a year learning language and culture. During this time of learning my primary role will be coordinating volunteers. This is a time consuming area that will help free up Lori and Licia to focus more on the clinic and Rescue Center. I will continue to care for children from the Rescue Center who need one on one care. I also hope to be able to do some of the late night/early morning care of the kids that Licia has been doing (i.e. Giving meds via IVs, putting feeding tubes that fall out back in, etc.).

My future goal is to, within the next year or two, begin working with Licia to come up with and implement an after care program for the kids in the Rescue Center and their families. A task like this is not easy nor quick and will take years to get a handle on. However, Lord willing this will hopefully begin to transform not only families, but communities.

Lord willing I will be moving down to Haiti May 23rd or very soon thereafter.

Be a part:
I am in need of financial and prayer support as I begin this journey.

Haiti is thick with spiritual warfare and I know beyond a doubt I need to be saturated in the prayers of the saints. Please cover me in your prayers and join me in praying for salvation, spiritual growth, economic stability, fertile land, healing, etc. for the beautiful, precious, broken people of Haiti.

I am also asking for financial support. I need your prayers and help to raise $800 of support each month.

If you feel the Lord stirring in your heart to support me monthly or with a one time gift please send donations** to Real Hope for Haiti. This can be done via Paypal (on the right side of your screen) or you can mail a check to:

Psalm 103:1-6
Praise the LORD, my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
Praise the LORD, my soul,
and forget not all his benefits—
who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,
who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
The LORD works righteousness
and justice for all the oppressed.

I am so grateful to Zach, Lori, Licia, and Casey for allowing me to join them in what Jesus has been and is doing through them. Thank you for loving me, trusting me, and letting me be a part of your lives. I love you guys.

Jess, It’s exciting to hear you will become a part of Real Hope for Haiti’s ministries. In support of this I will send $25 per month to RHFH in Indiana to help cover your mission work. With auto-billpay this easy to do and you can be sure a check will arrive each month, starting May 1. I encourage others to do the same. If would only take 31 more people sending $25 per month to cover the $800/month needed to support Jess in her work in Haiti.
