Cholera update

You are not going to believe these next two photos!!

We told the story of Plezime a few days back.  First post on Plezime

She had cholera and was being carried to find help in a rain storm.  Well, she found great help and care at the cholera house and is going home!  After 46 liters of IV fluid, she is all smiles.

We received some plastic sheeting this past week.  Several of the volunteers have been busy taping these new floors in place.

We have received lots of donations this past two weeks.

Several loads from Christian Aid Ministries.

IV fluid, sprayers, and ORS from International Organization for Migration (IOM).

We put bleach water in the sprayer to clean beds, floors, motorcycles, people, stretchers, and more.

We also received IV fluids, plastic sheeting, medications, diapers, and more from GrassRoots United.

DON’T FORGET:

Support Artist For Hope by purchasing any of these items and the funds will go towards helping Dr. Jen buy medications for the cholera house.  Pretty please with a cherry on top!  🙂

Our numbers are finally going down a bit.  We are so happy for a break for our staff that have been working so hard.  We are happy that people aren’t sick.  We are happy that supply demands are lessening.  We are happy! Plezime’s smile shows our joy in our hearts.  We depend on God in the hard times and WE WILL PRAISE HIM IN THE GOOD TIMES TOO!!!!

For the month of June, we have seen 904 new admits (average 30/day).  Of those, 338 were put on IV fluids (37%).  We had an average of 63 pts/night in June.  We have treated a total of 2680 people and have had 7 in-facility deaths (0.3%).

Please pray that people start to realize that this isn’t going away and that they need to start practicing better hygiene and treat all their drinking water.  Please pray for rest and blessings for the staff.  Please pray that this awful bug will skip on out of town.  Please pray that all the lines on this chart keep going down.
