Sisters

These hands belong to four sisters.  There is another sister that is not with us yet.  We are trying to get her here.  These four girl ages 14, 12, 8 and 6 have been through a lot already in their lives.  In this past year both their parents died.  They were already a very poor family.  Their aunt that was responsible for them did not know what to do.  She already had 8 children of her own.  She did not even have room in her house for her own kids to sleep.  She could not feed them all.  So she did what so many do here.  She sent them to other people’s houses to work and hoped that they would a least get fed everyday. There were all separated at 4 different locations.  They were Restavek children.

Their aunt was very sad when she went to visit them.  They were not in school and they had all lost weight and were working hard each day.  She knew that she had made a big mistake.  She did not know what to do.  She went to her local church and asked for help.  She went to the local judge and told him what had happened.  She came to RHFH and asked us to help.  We talked with several people in the community about these four girl.  Everyone was in agreement that their situation was bad.  When I brought them to the clinic to get meds, several of the staff members saw them and cried.  a staff member said ” if you never do anything else, God will surely bless you for this”.  We live here in this community of Cazale.  We are a part of them, they are a part of us.  We together are going to help these sisters.  Those in the community check up on them.  They let me know what they need and how they are doing.  They tell them good morning, they ask them how they are doing, they love them.   They care about them.   We wanted to be able to get them a new outfit for the Jan 1st holiday.  This is a big thing here.  Everyone gets a new outfit each year.  The same day I thought about this, guess what happened?  CAM (Christian Aid Ministries) gave RHFH a pallet of sewing material.  A whole pallets.  We invited the girls over and told them they could each pick out two types of material to make new dresses.  They were very shy at first, and then we started digging into the piles.  We found lots of pretty material.  They were so excited!!!!  They clinic staff  joined them and help them pick out nice material that would last.  The dresses are being sew this week.  When the smallest girl was leaving she came over and asked me if she could talk to me.  I said yes.  She covered her little mouth and said; “if it is possible I want to ask you something, I want to know if you might have a little doll”.  I told her I have a friend coming at the end of Dec that might be able to find one for her.  She was so very happy!

So my friend is Anna.  She is coming in Dec 19th.  She is already packed full but we are going to work something out to get these four girls some dolls and other things for Christmas.  This is where I need your help.  Anna is willing to do some last minute shopping for us.  You can use the paypal button on the upper right hand corner of the blog to donate for these sisters.  Add the word “sisters” in the memo.  If you would like to purchase a doll for them and think you can get it to Anna in CA by the 15th let me know and I will see what we can work out.  If you want to become a part of these girls lives and pray for them I would be grateful.  If you would like to sponsor them or help out in anyway I would be happy.  I am hopful that these girls will grow up to be stong and healthy and know the love of Jesus in their lives.  Questions?licia@realhopeforhaiti.org

This breaks my heart. I wish we could come up with a plan to help these girls that would allow them to stay together as a family and perhaps get an education. I will be praying.
