REAL HOPE FOR HAITI

Hope in Jesus Christ for this life and the life to come.

As followers of Jesus Christ and His Word, the Zachary family (Davis, Gretchen, Lori, Licia, and Casey) have always tried to know God and make Him known.  They want everything that they do to be done for the Glory of their Lord and Savior.  In service to Him, they have dedicated their lives to caring for the poor, needy, and lost.  It is only by His Grace that this family was saved from a life of drugs and sin and they are unashamed to give God ALL of the Glory.

From 1986 until 1994, they worked together as a family to meet the needs of many in the Anderson, Indiana area.  They distributed food, clothes, household items and furniture to those in need.  They visited the sick in the hospitals and prisoners in jail. They held church services in nursing homes.  They taught Sunday School in their local church.  They volunteered at other local organizations to do their part to show others the Love of Jesus through meeting their physical and spiritual needs.

In 1988, Davis started coming to Haiti on short-term mission trips to volunteer as needed with evangelism and construction work for an established mission organization. Each of the family members visited the mission over the course of six years. In January 1994, Zach, Gretchen, and Casey moved to Haiti as full-time missionaries for Global Outreach.  Licia moved to Haiti in May 1995.  They faithfully worked at the complex for almost 4 years.  Casey went back to the United States to start college.

In January 1998, they started working with Grace International World Outreach. In early 1998, the Haitian government suggested that they start working the the remote village of Cazale.  The family visited and spoke with some leaders in the community. They started working in the Dispensary of Cazale in March 1998.  Lori came to live and work in Haiti in June 1998.  The clinic continued to function and grow.  In December 1999, the family was asked to leave the public building because it was needed for other purposes.  In January 2000, the family rented a house in the village and began working in what they called the Centre Sante de la Grace du Bon Samaritain, Cazale. This is the same property where the clinic is located today.  In June 2000, Enoch and Licia were married.  They currently have three sons - Carmelo, Henley, and Trey.  In 2002, they rented an adjacent building and increased their services to the local population.  Casey and Briana were married in 2002.  Charles and Lori were married in 2003.  In June 2006, Gretchen died, leaving a void in the family and mission work, but we are inspired to continue in her work.  In 2007, Casey and Briana had their daughter, Grace.

In September 2006, Real Hope For Haiti was incorporated and established as a mission organization serving the Haitian people.  On Nov 15, 2007, Real Hope For Haiti was approved for 501(3)c not-for-profit status.  Their Employer Identification Number is 20-5603302.  It is under this organization that the family continues to work and operate today.
