How can you resist a 97% off sale?

Everyone loves a sale – 50%, 75%, and sometime even 90% off!  It’s not easy to find something reduced to 97% off.  Well, we have found one and want you to be able to participate. The best part of the deal is that it is medications for the sick patients that will be coming in to our clinic, cholera treatment center, and rescue center over the next year.

We wrote about a need for funds for medications for the upcoming year in a post here.  There was $4500 given from 3 donors.  Thank you so much!  We greatly appreciate these contributions, but we haven’t met our goal yet.  Since then, we’ve had the opportunity to purchase even more wonderful and needed supplies.

Soap, multivitamins, antacids, antifungal cream, tylenol, antibiotic cream, cough syrup, ibuprofen, anti-histamines, and prenatal vitamins are some of the items that can be coming on this next container.  These medications have the chance to treat over 36,000 in the next year.

Here are some of the patients that benefited from last year’s shipment:

Claritch was 9 months old when she came to the clinic with a high temperature from pneumonia. She was given antibiotics for the infection and tylenol for the fever.  When she returned for appointment, her mom reported that every time she gave the tylenol her daughter’s fever broke and she was comfortable.  On her return visit, she was free of infection and fever.  Her appetite had returned and she had gained 1.5 pounds.  Her mother was grateful for medications provided for her baby girl and for her recovery.

Phanie is 21 years old and expecting her first child.  She began following in the clinic since she was one month along.  She is now 7 months pregnant and feeling the all changes that occur during this time.  She is mostly having a problem with heartburn.  It is uncomfortable and painful at times.  Sometimes, she doesn’t want to eat because she doesn’t want to have heartburn.  She knows this is not good for her baby and told nurse Benita about it.  We were able to provide her with an antacid (like Tums) and she is reporting a decrease in heartburn and an increase in appetite.  She is hopeful that she will have a healthy baby.

Michou has been having severe stomach pain and reflux.  It is so bad that it keeps her up at nights.  She has tried modifying her diet and lifestyle without any change in her condition.  When she saw that there was nothing else that she could do for it and she was losing weight, she came to the clinic.  She had an ulcer and was positive for H. pylori.  One of the medications for the treatment of H. pylori is omeprazole or Prilosec.  This is rather expensive and out of reach of most of the population that we serve.  What a joy to be able to have this medication on hand for Michou and others with ulcers!  She is doing much better and is very thankful for the pills.

The value of the medications is $464,835.75 and we are going to be able to purchase this for only $11,169.00!  This will be 38 pallets of medications and will weigh 29,500 pounds. That’s only $0.38 per pound.  Could you consider purchasing 100 pounds of medication for $38.00?  Perhaps you could purchase 500 pounds for $190.00 or 1000 pounds for $380.00?  Whatever way you look at it, this is not a deal to be passed up.  You can use the paypal link on the right hand side or send a check to RHFH, PO Box 23, Elwood, IN  46036 (mark “medication” in the memo and send an email to lori at realhopeforhaiti dot org so we can keep the ticker below updated).

Help us meet our goal of giving quality healthcare to rural Haitians.
